Providing advanced technologies and user-friendly instruments as a leading manufacturer of surface analysis instruments

Substantial product lineup in response to customer requests

We inherited the traditions of the former Physical Electronics Inc. in the U.S., and have consistently manufactured and sold surface analysis instruments since 2003. We want to contribute to the development of next-generation technologies by supplying products with a high level of customer satisfaction.

We have increased the range of our products from 4 types in 2003 to the current 7 types to respond to the various requests we receive from customers. For example, we developed the PHI 5000 VersaProbe II to respond the need of combined analysis instruments (multi-technique instruments) that can analyze a sample using multiple methods by itself. Furthermore, we developed the PHI X-tool and PHI 4700 Thin Film Analyzer™ as general-purpose instruments that users can easily operate to perform analyses.

In the area of advanced research and development, new leading-edge functions are required. And along with the expansion of surface analysis applications, automated analysis is also required. We will continue to develop products that respond to these requests.

Our track record includes being the first to commercialize leading-edge technologies such as GCIB

ULVAC-PHI, Inc. works hard to develop instruments based on new technologies that give new information.
For example, we commercialized the C 60 ion gun and Ar Gas Cluster Ion Beam (GCIB) ahead of the rest of the world's competing products.

In the progress of these developments, we work to foster our company culture so that opinions can be expressed freely.
When we start new developments, the leader initiates the project by collecting members from all divisions in order to maintain a flexible mindset.

We established Physical Electronics USA (PHI-USA) in 2003 as a sales and service office for the U.S. and Europe.
Customers abroad may have different requests. That is why PHI-USA also conducts development projects. It enables us to reflect the requests of all our customers in our technologies and products.

Expanding applications of surface analysis technologies in various areas

Surface analysis technologies have been developed in the areas of metals, semiconductors, and chemistry. However, we think these technologies may be useful also in other areas.
If you are interested in our products, don't hesitate to contact us. We hope to communicate with you about your needs and our ability to meet those needs.

ULVAC-PHI, Inc. regularly holds beginners seminars and technical lectures in Tokyo and Osaka. In 2013, those lectures were held in Nagoya, too. We also hold user meetings once a year. Please feel free to join them. We will continue to actively provide useful information on our Web site.
